Result of Consultation for the Proposed Footpath Along Barking Tye
At the meeting at the Village Hall on Thursday 13th February 7-9pm
the large majority of people agreed that they prefer the red route for the path going along the Fox pub side. The parish council will be following this for the path
The village has been trying to build this footway for 60 years and it is now in a position to get it done.
The footpath would run along the Tye from near Rectory Farm to the garage. The path will be topped with road planings or similar to give a sympathetic look to the countryside it travels through.

The Parish Council's responsibilites include:
• Finance - The Parish Council is responsible for the approval and monitoring of Council expenditure, annually analysing future funding requirements and recommends the precept to be raised. Arranging insurance of parish property, loans and donations and other associated activities requiring finance.
• The Tye and Footpaths - As owner of the Tye, - maintenance of theTye (common)*, Public Footpaths and Play Equipment. The Parish Paths Partnership assists with the maintenance of the footpaths within the Parish of Barking.

• Planning - The Parish Council receives and considers consultation copies of all Planning Applications relating to the parish. Recommendations from the Council either in support of the application or as objections, are passed to Mid Suffolk District Council who, as Planning Authority, will make use of these comments in their determination of the application.
• Parish Property - The Parish Council is the owner of the Tye (the common), provides and maintains litter bins, dog waste bins, notice boards, play equipment, benches, street lights, and the defibrillator and the former BT kiosk which it is housed in. The Council is the Custodian Trustee of Barking Village Hall, which is managed by the Barking Village Hall Management Committee.
• Highways and Lighting - The Parish Council oversees highways matters such as the need for road repairs, signposting, street lights and the supply of electricity for street lighting.
Barking Defibrillator
Barking Parish Council has installed a defibrillator in the telephone kiosk adjacent to Barking Village Hall. Training is not essential as full instructions will be given to the user at the time should an emergency situation arise.
What is the process if there is an emergency?
Dial 999
If the caller is within 1 mile of an operational defibrillator, they will be given its location and very importantly, the code to gain access to the AED unit.
Full instructions will be given both by the operator and via the unit itself.
Use of the AED will buy precious minutes while the emergency services make their way to you.
The unit will be kept locked to ensure it is not tampered with or removed, and to ensure it is there if it is needed.
Barking Parish Council is very grateful to County Cllr Julia Truelove for funding the purchase of the defibrillator, to the Community Heartbeat Trust for the help and advice given and to Alex Taylor for cleaning up the kiosk following its purchase from BT. The cost of installation and ongoing maintenance and insurance is being borne by the Parish Council.
Barking Tye
Please can residents and visitors alike remember that the Tye is a Common which has Bye Laws to protect it and to ensure that it remains a beautiful, open, green space for everyone to enjoy. The Parish Council works hard to maintain the Tye.
Parking on the Tye: Whereas there are special occasions when parking is permitted (subject to permission having been granted by the Parish Council) for occasions such as the Barking Fair, there should be no routine parking of vehicles on the common.
Dogs on the Tye: Signs have been erected on the Tye by the play area advising that dogs are not to be allowed into the play area. The Parish Council asks that dog walkers respect this order.
The Tye is not a golf driving range: Please bear in mind that people regularly use the Tye for recreation and will be put off by golf balls flying through the air. Please use the golf driving range, not the Tye, to practice your golf.
Bye Laws: A copy of the Bye Laws is available upon request, or via the Barking Parish website www.barking.onesuffolk.net They are also clearly on view at various places on the Tye itself.
Drones are prohibited from the Tye (see Bye Laws)
Sky Lanterns are prohited from the Tye by resolution of Barking Parish Council.
It is prohibited to light fireworks on the Tye.
