2025 REPORT OF THE NEEDHAM MARKET & BARKING WELFARE CHARITIES
The year started well for the Charity as we welcomed six families into our brand-new homes in Creeting St Mary. These homes have modern facilities and are heated with heat pumps and add to our four homes at Drift Court. We hold a waiting list for all ten properties.
During the year we have given grants to those in need for medical aids, household and white goods, carpets, clothing and helped with travel expenses for medical appointments. The purpose of our Charity is to provide relief to those in Need or who are Sick. An application process ensures the need of help from the Charity has been demonstrated.
We are pleased to see that the Scout Hut is almost ready for use and looks very smart. We look forward to having our Camping Land back without the fencing, as we know many people enjoy using the open space.
In October the Football Club took over the Land on which the Charity have run allotments for over 20 years. The workload associated with running the allotments and the increasing costs help to make the decision to sell, although we are grateful that the Football Club have chosen to allow allotments for the short-term future.
If you feel that you or somebody you know who resides in Needham Market or the parish of Barking could benefit from the Charities help, either by way of a grant or by joining the Almshouse waiting list, please get in contact for a chat in the strictest confidence with the Clerk via nmbwc@btinternet.com or 01449 722494

Notes from a meeting with Dan Poulter regarding Pylons at Offton Village Hall on 15th September 2023
The Parish of Barking has a lot of history, most of it recorded, but there is still more material to be found. There are beautiful ancient buildings, the Churches, many cottages and houses, beautiful ancient woodland and the Tye (the common).
There are many events which are organised by the Barking Community Council and these are advertised in the Four Parishes Newsletter which is delivered to most households in the village. Full details of the recent and forthcoming events can be found by following the link to the relevant page on this website.
The Village Hall is managed and maintained by the Village Hall Management Committee. Full details of the Village Hall and it's facilities can be found by following the link to the relevant page on this website.
The list of clubs and organisations shown on this website draws attention to the many and varied activities taking place in and around the village. All these organisations welcome new members. It is hoped that this website may be of use to all residents in Barking, and especially to newcomers to our communit
